North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club (IHC) is pleased to announce the commitment of Justin Ferguson to attend Dartmouth College.   He is expected to arrive on campus in the fall of 2018 after spending the next two seasons with the IHC.

“I’m extremely excited and honored to be a part of such a prestigious school in Dartmouth College,” stated Justin Ferguson.  I immediately fell in love with the campus and all of their facilities.  Once I met with the entire coaching staff I really felt they had an honest intention of helping me develop on and off the ice.  AS soon as I received the offer it was an easy decision for me.  To be a part of such a great hockey program and receive such an amazing education is everything I have ever dreamed of growing up.  I cannot thank enough the two most important people in my life for helping me, my mom and dad.  I would never have been able to achieve this goal without their support and sacrifices along the way.  I also cannot say enough about the Islanders organization and all they have done for me and continue to do for me.  Everything is so professional and all you can ask for as a player.”

Last season was a tremendous year for Justin as he earned “Goaltender of the Year” in the USPHL Elite Division.  He made it easy with staggering numbers leading the league with a 1.78 GAA along with a .944 save%.  He finished the year with a 17-5-1 record with 3 shutouts along the way.

GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay added, “Our entire organization could not be happier for Justin.  He is the first player to go from our U16 team to our U18 team to our Elite Jr. Team to the Premier team.  Justin truly climbed our ladder of development and everyone in our system has played a key role in his development and that is what makes me so proud in this situation.  Justin is the 16th goalie I have coached to go Division One and I am excited to see where he ends up fitting in that group.  I see a lot of Brian Foster in him who became an All American at UNH.  He is extremely technical and combines that with solid athleticism.  I truly look forward to working with him as he prepares for his collegiate and professional career.”

The Islanders Hockey Club will open their season on September 16, 2016 when they travel to Connecticut to face off against the CT Rangers.
