North Andover, MA -  The Islanders Hockey Club (IHC) shutout the Springfield Pics 5-0 to clinch the regular season championship, known as the “Founders Cup” for the second straight season.  The win also continued what is now an 18 game win streak dating back to before Thanksgiving.  The IHC has four regular season games remaining including hosting the Junior Bruins on Wednesday and traveling to the South Shore Kings Showcase where they will face the PAL Islanders, Syracuse, and Philadelphia.  They will be presented with the Founders Cup in a ceremony following the Philadelphia game on Sunday.

“The Founders Cup represents hard work, dedication, a commitment to excellence where you have to show up every day all season long and do your job,” commented GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay.  “This team has been one of the tightest group of men I have coached and I have great admiration for the respect they have for our league and their drive to be the best each and every day.  We only returned one forward and three defensemen from a team that went 38-6 the year before and we spoke early how our culture never changes, but our identity as a team does.  They truly understood what we were teaching, discovered their identity and believed in it about three weeks into the season and haven’t looked back.”

Starting the year 3-3, the Isles have gone 32-2-1 since and push their two-year total to 77-13-1.  Eight players have over 10 goals, including three who have 25 or more.  The goaltending tandem of Justin Ferguson and Connor Minch are on top of the league in GAA and save%, the PP is above 23% and the PK above 90%.  The next quest this season for the IHC is to capture the Dineen Cup, a drive that will start in ten days.
