5-different goal scorers lead the way

Bourne, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club traveled to Cape Cod Friday evening to square off with the Boston Bandits.  After a scoreless first period the Islanders found their scoring touch and found the back of the net five times with five different goal scorers for a 5-1 road win.  Hayden Taylor would get things going when he fired home a rebound off Sam Nestor and Liam Darcy (UNH).    Minutes later Jack Brackett would even things up when he capitalized on a defensive error and fired one past Dartmouth-bound Justin Ferguson.  Less than four minutes later Maine recruit Brent Hill would extend his goal-scoring streak to four games when he one timed a Mark Cheremeta feed on a 2x1 rush.

It would be all Islanders in the third as Lucas Michaud scored just 53 seconds into the frame with assists going to Matt Dillon and Mark Gallant.  Moments later Justin Pearson would pick off a pass and head in alone and make a terrific move to his forehand and snap one over Jorrit Vos blocker and force the Bandits to call timeout.  UVM recruit Jeremy Cote would end the scoring when he wristed one from the slot over Vos’ glove with Jonathan Young (Merrimack College) and George Sennott picking up helpers.

Justin Ferguson would stop 22 of 23 for his fourth win of the season, while Vos would stop 32 of 37.

The Islanders Hockey Club will have Saturday off and on Sunday head to Boston Common to participate in the annual Walk for Autism.  The IHC have raised over $350,000 for Autism Speaks in the last four years, the largest fundraising group in the country.
