Roll Isles take 3 in IHC Showcase

North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club made it twelve wins in a row by knocking off the New Jersey Rockets (8-1), Syracuse Stars (4-2), and the Rochester Monarchs (5-3).  All three games took place during the five-day Islanders Hockey Club USPHL Showcase.  Over the course of five days the IHC  hosted 148 games utilizing their home facilities as well as Tsongas Arena on the campus of U Lowell.

Game one vs the Rockets had a pair of D help lead the offense as Liam Darcy and JJ Layton each had three point nights.  Mark Cheremeta would lead all scorers with a 1-3-4 line on the evening with Justin Ferguson stopping 23 of 24 for the win.

Saturday’s tilt at Skate 3 saw the Stars take a 1-0 lead into the locker room, but George Sennott would score twice on the same shift to give the boys in orange the spark they needed.  Jeremie Lavallee would score on the PP to make it 3-1 at the end of two periods of play.  Justin Pearson would put it out of reach with a great goal 6:23 into the third.  Louis Felix St-Jean would not face a lot of work, but made several great saves as well as breakout passes to help secure the 15th victory of the season.

Five different goal scorers would emerge on Sunday vs the Monarchs, but it would be Liam Darcy again who would score the GWG with just 1:06 remaining in the game for the dramatic win.  Moments later Lucas Michaud would unleash a bomb for the insurance goal and not allow the Monarchs the opportunity to pull their goalie and make the last minute interesting.

All in all another great week for the orange and blue, but now back to work to prepare for a couple of back to back road trips.

The Islanders Hockey Club now sits at 16-1 and will head on the road this weekend to take on the Syracuse Stars and will then head to New Jersey to take on the Rockets just after Thanksgiving.
