2017 Year in Review

#1 Team looks back on tremendous year

  • North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club capped off the calendar year 2017 with a 5-1 win over the Junior Bruins and an 8-2 win over the Boston Bandits.  Thus wrapping up arguably one of the best calendar years a team can achieve.  Below are some of the highlights for which many believe to be a historic year.

49-3 overall record  (.942 win %)

IHC ends the 16-17 season 21-1, and starts the 17-18 season 28-2

Founders Cup Champions for 2nd year in a row (Regular Season)

Dineen Cup Champions (Playoffs)

Austin Lemieux – Awarded USPHL Player of the Year

Team wins every overnight road trip for the year

IHC boasts two amazing win streaks of 15-games and 16-games during the year

IHC raised the Founders Cup and Dineen Cup Banners on Oct 1, 2017 in front of 1500 fans in Lawler Arena at Merrimack College

Former Tremblay player Brian Dumoulin wins back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins

2017 marked the inaugural NCDC Futures Draft.  The first 6 Futures Picks for the IHC were Ryan Johnson (Anaheim Jr Duck), Christian Sarlo (North Jersey Avalanche), Cole Vallese (NJ Colonials), Will Margel and Jack Robilotti (Selects Academy), and Derek Mullahy (Shattuck St Mary’s)

Each year the team participates in the Boston Walk for Autism along with the entire IHC organization.  Once again the Islanders Hockey Club helped raise over $100,000 for Autism Speaks

Bob Corkum, former NHL coach and prior Tremblay Associate Coach gave pre-game speech in Long Island.  Great topics of “culture” and “trust the process” were delivered to the team

WBU boxing champion Micky Ward gave pre-game speech before the final game of 2017.  The 2010 film, “The Fighter” was based on Ward’s early career in which Mark Wahlberg portrayed him.  His topics hit home with “60 minutes” and “look in the mirror”

Coach T ‘s annual 4x4 tournament winners for 2016-17 season were Liam Darcy, Justin Pearson, Mark Cheremeta, Collin van der Veen, and Justin Ferguson.  The 2017-18 event was held in November and the winners were Sam Nestor, Justin Pearson, Nick Parody, Tyler Levine, and Louis Felix St-Jean.  The boys earn steak and lobster dinner each year at Coach T’s house.

Former Tremblay player Ryan Callahan named assistant coach with the Islanders Hockey Club NCDC Team
