Jack Carter, a Carlsbad, CA native, who started playing hockey at the age of 12 has committed to go to Merchyurst University in Erie, PA. Jack Played for the San Diego Jr. Gulls, Classical Academy Caimans and La Jolla Country Day Torreys prior to joining the Islanders Hockey Club. Jack was recruited to the Islanders Hockey Club out of America's Showcase St. Louis by Brian Umansky when also served as his head coach. "Jack is an extremely hard working player and an even better person. It was an absolute pleasure having him on my team and any program would be lucky to have him," says Umansky. With the the IHC Jack put up the best stats of his career with a .913 SV% and a 3.07 GAA with 7 wins. Jack plans on studying pre-med at Mercyhurst. “We are very excited to add Jack Carter to our program and look forward in welcoming him to Mercyhurst this coming fall. Jack comes from a great organization in the Islanders Hockey Club, which does a great job developing it’s players for the different levels of college hockey. We have heard great things about Jack, his character, his work ethic and his commitment to his academics. We are optimistic about Jack’s future potential at the college level and as a student-athlete,” says head coach Thomas McKinnon. Jack is very excited about his commitment and thanks the IHC. "Playing for a prestigious organization like the Islanders Hockey Club allowed me to learn and grow as a hockey player- enough to the point where I was ready to take on collegiate hockey."
