Phinney and Whitney Lead Club to 4-0 Win

Princeton-bound goaltender Colton Phinney posted a 20 save shutout in his Islander debut and Tyler Whitney netted two goals in leading the Islanders Hockey Club to a 4-0 EJHL win over the Connecticut Oilers.

Whitney scored the only goal the Isles needed at 15:06 of the first period when he drove the net and redirected a Mike Jamieson feed from the left wing.
The Jamieson, Whitney and Mike Doherty line combined again on a line rush at 4:52 of the first to make the score 2-0. Whitney tipped a Doherty shot beating Oiler netminder Bruce Racine. Two minutes later Ryan Callahan beat Racine with a power play tally for a 3-0 lead. Tom Muratore and Conor MacPhee earned assists on the play.
Early in the final period Ted McCarran broke into the Oilers zone on a two-on-one break with Brendan Robbins. The big righty looked off the defenseman and ripped a shot under the bar for the final tally of the game and a 4-0 lead.
The Islanders were 1 for 3 on the power play and held Connecticut scoreless on three power play attempts. IHC is back in action against Tampa Bay before returning to league action Sunday against the South Shore Kings.
