U18 Team wins Mass TIer 1

Islanders U18 Mass Tier 1 Division Champs

The Islanders Hockey Club U18 followed up a successful start to their season with the programs first tournament championship. Playing seven games in four days, the Islanders battled through the tournament with six wins and one loss. Their only loss came during round robin play, to the Wonderland Wizards out of Connecticut, who they would eventually play again in the finals. 
The tournament started off with an impressive 6-0 win vs. the Warwick Wildcats out of Pennsylvania. Graham Hunt bounced back from his last start, with a shutout and another win on the season. David Sweet added 2 goals in the game as well.  The Islanders next win came against the Lowell Jr. Riverhawks, with a 4-1 effort. The Islanders played very physical throughout the game and had another great effort from Michael Mastrogiacomo in net. 
The third game of the tournament was the Islanders only slip up on the weekend, when they came out flat against the Wonderland Wizards, and lost 6-4. The Islanders conceded four goals in the first period before they woke up and started playing their physical brand of hockey that has made them successful in the early part of the season. They battled back to tie the game at four in the third period, but the Wizards capitalized on a few bounces in the end. 
The next day brought some late game heroics by David Sweet as his scored with less than a second left in regulation, to beat the Boston Advantage. Graham Hunt was great in net again, as he earned another shutout win. Later that day the Islanders fell behind early against the South Shore Kings, despite dominating possession time, before the came back to earn a 5-3 win. Mastrogiacomo played well in net as he earned another victory on the season. 
On Labor Day, the Islanders came out with a purpose to prove they were the best team in their division. They beat Brick Hockey, out of New Jersey, 7-2 in the semi-final game. Danny Moynihan had a three goals and an assist, while his line mate, Pat Germain added two goals and an assist. Graham Hunt earned another win on the season. 
The Islanders got their chance to redeem themselves as the faced off against the Wonderland Wizards in the finals. With some tentative play by the Islanders, the Wizards jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. The Islanders decided to turn it on and scored seven unanswered goals to win the championship 7-3.
