Huskies Head to Holiday Break on High Note

Two wins on the road can put a smile on the face of any coach.  Delivering two wins to put the club back into playoff contention and send the boys off to Christmas break definitely stamped the crooked smiles on Huskies coaches Jenkins and Bostic faces.

“The club has been inconsistent throughout the first half and that happens when you have a lot of new players to the league.  But we really like this team and feel it can make some noise after break,” stated Coach Jenkins.

The club earned a 5-4 shootout win Saturday and then closed out the weekend with a 4-0 whitewashing of the Rochester Stars Sunday in EJHL action.  Ian McGilvrey netted two goals and the shootout winner in leading the way.  He and line-mates Scott Snyder and Tieg Alward had a particularly strong weekend up north, with all three having multiple point games.  Dan Concannon and Zak Kokosa added solo scores for the Huskies.  Kollyn Jones earned the victory between the pipes to improve his record to 5-3.

In a very quick turn-around for the Sunday morning rematch the Huskies skated to a 4-0 win to broom their way to an early Christmas present.  Goaltender Mark Hochman stopped 32 shots in posting his first shutout of the season.  After a scoreless first period, Dan Concannon continued his torrid goal-scoring pace when he lifted the only goal the Huskies would need past the Rochester net-minder at the 13:35 mark of the second period.

The visitors added 3 more in the third to seal the win and secure the season series as well.  Tieg Alward, Tyler Griffith and Scott Snyder all finished nifty plays to close out the hosts in strong fashion.  The Huskies are back in action after a long Holiday layoff with exhibition games after the New Year before renewing their quest for the EJHL crown.

Merry Christmas!
