Seven Different Scorers Contribute

The Huskies hosted the Hitmen from New Jersey in a two game set over the weekend and came away with a sweep.  The sweep also gave the Huskies the season series as well.

It was an all around team effort as both goalies, Tom Conlin and Kollyn Jones, earned wins and seven scorers lit the lamp in the wins.

In game 1 on Saturday Lincoln, NH native Tieg Alward netted a power play goal at 3:56 with a set up from Russ Adkins and Storm Adams.  Then Huskies D-man Andrew Pascal sent a point shot through a screen with just 11 seconds left in the first period to establish a 2-0 lead.

New Jersey scored the lone second period tally at 13:56 mark on the power play to cut the lead in half.

Huskies leading scorer Ian McGilvrey opened the third period with the eventual game winner.   The shifty forward broke down the left wing on the man advantage and ripped a shot under the bar for a 3-1 lead.  Jersey added a power play goal midway through the third but was held off the board the rest of the way by Conlin.

Sunday’s rematch brought 7 NCAA coaches to the building.  The Huskies got on the board first again when AJ Hamel to a pass from goaltender Kollyn Jones and skated the length of the ice on the left wing before ripping a shot past NJ goalie Rohrkemper at the 17:34 mark.  Hitmen evened the score with a 5 on 3 power play goal by Colin Bretner at 11:26 of the first.

The Huskies netted the games next three goals.  Russ Adkins scored at 9:58 of the second when he controlled a net front rebound and deked Rohrkemper to make it 2-1.

Three minutes into the third Jordan Robertson slammed home a Tieg Alward rebound shot for a 3-1 Huskies lead.  Three minutes later Brandon Reinholz scored for a 4-1 Huskies lead.  New Jersey added a late power play goal with 2:30 left in the game to close the scoring at 4-2.

The Huskies are back in action this weekend at the Valley Showcase in Haverhill, MA.
