Huskies Sweep Weekend

Tyngsboro, MA- The New England Huskies vaulted back into the playoff hunt with a weekend sweep of the Glades at Skate 3.  The wins also gave the Huskies the season series against their North Division rival.  Huskies goaltender Colby Drost stopped 79 of 81 shots backstopping the Huskies to 3-1 and 6-1 wins.

Drost held the Huskies in the game while the Huskies overcame a sluggish start.  After controlling the play for most of the first period the Glades’ Moore scored at 6:33 to post a 1-0 lead.  Huskies rookie standout Bill Kent tied the game with a highlight reel effort with just seven seconds left in the first to go to first intermission tied at 1-1.

From there the Patrick Borer and Marcus Mitchell combined to put the game out of reach.  With just one and a half minutes into the second stanza Borer jumped into the offensive rush and redirected a beautiful chip pass from Mitchell to put the Huskies up 2-1. Mitchell later scored a power play tally with 5:53 left in the second period with an assist to Borer to make it 3-1. Drost shut the door in the third period to earn the win stopping 33 shots while Izyk stopped 22 in the loss.

The Huskies got off to a strong start in game two scoring two unanswered goals in the first period. Bowdoin-bound Mike Schlagel netted the first at 17:06 with assists from linemates Zeth Zielinski and Bill Kent. Dan Mazzei made it 2-0 at 3:38 of the first with assist to his line-mates Matt Lemire and Evan Bedell.
