September 1, 2010 – The New England Junior Huskies and The Middlesex Islanders are proud to announce that they have entered into an agreement to merge operations. The combination will further both organizations goal of being one of the premier developmental and competitive hockey programs in New England providing a unique platform for players to develop from “cradle to college”. The new organization will have over 425 players competing in all 5 premier New England hockey leagues – the Eastern Junior (“EJ), Empire and CHA Junior Hockey Leagues and the Eastern Hockey Federation (“EHF”) and the N.E. Woman Hockey League for the youth teams.

“The Islanders are very excited about the future that collectively, these organizations can provide for the players, families and hockey community. This opportunity leverages a great deal of history, experience and resources which we anticipate will have a positive effect on our constituents.” said Francis Murphy, Director of the Middlesex Islanders.

“This is an exciting time for both organizations,” said Leo Gould, President of the New England Huskies. “Both have worked hard to establish themselves in their respective leagues and combining resources will strengthen those efforts to provide a superior hockey program.”

Both organizations will maintain their team identities for the coming season. More information regarding the new organization will be forthcoming.
