CAPE COD, Mass. (Feb. 1) – Nichols College men’s ice hockey players Matt Sayer (Lowell, Mass.) and Danny Greiner (Columbus, Ohio) have been named the ECAC Northeast Player and Rookie of the Week, for play ending Sunday, January 31. Sayer led the Bison to a pair of conference wins with seven points including a hat trick against Western New England College, while Greiner was a key member of the power play with three of his five points coming with the man advantage.

Sayer potted five goals and added two assists for seven points on the week. He had a hat trick and an assist in Wednesday's win vs. WNEC, and followed with a pair of goals and an assist Saturday against Salve Regina, netting the game-winner with less than two minutes left in the game to cap the Bison's comeback. The former player for the New England Huskies (EJHL) stands with 15 points on nine goals and six assists in 19 games this season.

Greiner scored two power play goals and added three assists for five points to help the Bison extend their win streak to five games this week. He scored a goal to go with two assists against WNEC on Wednesday, and followed with a goal and an assist - both with the man advantage, and both to knot up the game - against Salve Regina Saturday. The rookie, a former member of the Port Hope Predators (OJHL), has totaled eight points with three goals and five assists in 16 games this season.

Nichols (11-6-2, 5-3-0) looks to extend its five-game win streak with a pair of conference road games this week, taking on Becker Wednesday at 8:30, before a rematch of last season’s ECAC Northeast championship game Sunday in a 3:30 p.m. game at #15 Wentworth.
