Dear Islander Hockey Club Fan,
Thank you for your support and cooperation as the Islanders take great effort to improve the program and the youth hockey experience here in New England. We are very proud of everyone and the progress being made on the ice as well as off. It has been very rewarding to see so many players improve and continue to enjoy the game with us. Keep up the hard work and thank you to all of the parents for your support of the players so far.

Everyone should be aware of the happenings at Merrimack College but if not I encourage you to stop by for a look at the site. I've spent the majority of my life in an arena but this marks the first time I've been a part of the construction process. It's been an education to say the least and after the months of work by Merrimack College and Richard Gallant we are on track for ice in June.

As we sit through another NHL work stoppage, please take time to allow your players to watch hockey when possible. There are plenty of opportunities in and around New England to see some excellent competition at a reasonable expense. The learning experience and entertainment value in seeing our EJHL team play or Merrimack College perform on the same ice as your children will easily fill any void the NHL has left.

Thanks again and enjoy all of the hockey that is to come.

Sincerely,

Leigh Dean
Director of Men's Hockey Operations

Islander Player is EJHL Rookie of the Week   Yale Recruit Mike Doherty turns it up versus NJ Hitmen
Mike Doherty had a breakout game against the Jersey Hitmen last weekend. He scored a tremendous goal against the Jersey Hitmen receiving a pass across his body and releasing a shot that very few in the league can pull off and added an assist in the Islanders' 3-1 win. The Yale University recruit is off to a great start and is leading the Islanders in scoring. A Reading, MA, resident and Groton School graduate, Mike will head to Yale next fall.

The pinnacle of the Islanders Hockey Club is the Eastern Junior Hockey League team that skates out of Tyngsboro, MA. This team is lead by newly hired Head Coach Sean Tremblay and includes future Division 1 hockey players and possibly even a couple NHL'ers. Please take the opportunity to catch a game and support these young athletes as well as the Islanders program.

Mite Development Program Sees Results
2005 MDP Participants Stepping Up
The 2011-12 Mite Development Program was the Islanders first step to implementing a foundation of the program for years to come. Players that took part in the initial program are now realizing what a valuable tool the program is in order to compete in the EHF. The 2012-13 05 Mite Minor teams are quickly establishing themselves as strong teams that can compete to win with anyone in the league. Both teams are lead by great skaters and fierce competitors that have worked extremely hard at developing their skills with the Islanders.

This year's MDP is continuing with a great group of prospects that have been working just as hard as the 05's did last year. The program is modeled after the tenets set forth by USA Hockey's American Development Model and provides an excellent amount of ice time proving to be a great value. Players can choose to participate exclusively in the program or use it as a supplement for their current mite team. If you or anyone you know of would like to join the program please contact the Islanders Director of Hockey Operations, Leigh Dean at leighdean@iyho.org

Big Weekend for Islander Women
U19 Competes at Assabet Invitational
U16 & U12 Remain Undefeated in League
For the first time ever, the Islanders U19 received a spot at the exclusive Assabet U19 Invitational Tournament in Concord, MA, where they played some of the top talent in North America including the North American Hockey Academy and the National Sports Academy. Our players received plenty of attention from several college scouts.

Throughout the regular NEGHL play, the U16 Major and U12 Major still remain undefeated in their respective divisions. The U12 Major sit in first place of their U12 American Division while the U16 Major sit just under Assabet for 2nd spot of the Tier 1 National Division

Construction Update
This week marks a significant milestone for the project. On Tuesday October 17th the steel framing arrived and began coming together very quickly. The first visible evidence of the outer shell starts to take place and should be completely up before you know it.
