MacPhee and Phinney lead IHC to Bay State Dismantling

Right wing Conor MacPhee scored two goals and assisted on the third and goaltender Colton Phinney stopped 16 shots leading the Islanders to a 3-0 EJHL victory in the opening game of the 12th annual Islander Showcase.

The Islanders set the pace on the first shift of the game netting all Phinney would need.  Chris Izmirlian scored 40 seconds into the game with line-mates MacPhee and Mike Doherty assisting.  Breakers goalie Ben Halford made some big stops keeping the sore close.

MacPhee scored on a tip from Derek Stahl and Doherty four minutes into the second period to make it 2-0.  The big Providence bound forward got his second tip, this time on the backhand, to give the Isles a 3-0 lead.  Doherty and Izmirlian assisted on the power-play tally.  Phinney earned the shutout with 16 saves while Halford faced 43 shots in taking the loss.

The Islanders host Philadelphia in their next Showcase game on Saturday.
