Umansky Named Head Coach of Empire Team

Tyngsboro, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian Umansky as Head Coach of the Empire Team. “I was very impressed with Brian's background and his passion to be a great coach,” stated GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay. “His expertise in Sports Science and skill development is exactly what we were looking for in a head coach. He will be a great asset to our program and I welcome him to the Islanders Family.” Brian spent the past two seasons as head coach as well as strength/conditioning coach of Marian High School in Framingham, MA. Prior to Marian, Coach Umansky served as a head coach with the Central Mass Outlaws youth hockey program while he earned his Masters of Science at the University of Rhode Island in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. Coach Umansky also obtained his bachelors of science in health science from Worcester State University. Coach Umansky's background in Kinesiology allowed him to work as a sports performance trainer and skating specialist with Athletes Edge, Littleton, MA as well as working one-on-one as a personal strength and conditioning coach for athletes of all sports. Coach Umansky had an extensive playing career including playing for Worcester State University NCAA DIII, Junior hockey for the Buffalo Stars Empire Hockey League where Coach Umansky was named a team captain, with the Wheatfield Blades of the Golden Horseshoe Hockey League in Ontario as well as in the Empire Hockey League, AAA youth for the Reston Raiders and Prince William Panthers out of Northern Virginia and a varsity captain for McLean High School, Northern Virginia. Coach Umansky resides in Webster, MA with his wife Heidi and son Matteo.
