North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Ian O’Connor. Ian will join Sean Tremblay’s staff as newly appointed Director of Midget Hockey and oversee the 18U and 16U full season teams, as well as assume the Head Coach of the 16U team. “I am thrilled to have Ian assume recruiting and coaching duties for our full season midget program,” stated GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay. “Ian was a four year player for me, a two time captain, and three time Dineen Cup Champion, and a National Champion. He also went on to become the most valuable freshman at Providence College and later would be their team captain in his senior year as well as lead the team in scoring. Bottom line he knows what it takes to be a leader and be successful. Any young player in our area within an hours drive should be lining up to play for a coach like Ian.” The Islanders Hockey Club is one of the premier organizations in the United States with an emphasis on developing the player on and off the ice. Taking a holistic approach is truly what will separate them for years to come. Not only is there tremendous success and accolades on the ice, but also the organization was featured in this month USA Hockey Magazine for raising over $100,000.00 for Autism Speaks. O’Connor will spend the next few months scouting and recruiting for the upcoming season, bridging the gap between the youth and junior program. He will be on the recruiting trail looking for the best players from 97’s to 01’s. The goal is to see players move from the 14U to the 16U to the 18U and then the Premier Team coached by Sean Tremblay. Tremblay will also have a much larger involvement with the midget teams ensuring their success in the USPHL.
