North Andover, MA – GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay of the Islanders Hockey Club is proud to announce Brendan Robbins has accepted a scholarship offer and will attend the University of Maine this fall. Robbins will be the 16th Tremblay alum to join the Black Bears joining past stars such as Derek Damon, Matt Duffy, Brian Flynn, and former Maine captains Mike Cornell and Brice O’Connor. “Words cannot capture the elation I feel for Brendan accomplishing his goal of becoming a Division One player,” stated Tremblay. “He paid his dues as a first-year player for me learning how to compete day in and day out, and it wasn’t easy for him. I had to show him other past players who went through the same process and let him understand he wasn’t alone or the first player to go through a tough time on the path to success. He gutted it out and turned himself into the player he is today. He generates more grade A chances than almost anyone in our league with his speed and poise with the puck. He has actually started to show signs of becoming another Brian Flynn, he simply needs to work on his body and his physical training the next 3-4 years and he will have a solid shot at playing professional hockey.” Currently leading the Islanders in scoring with a 17-21-38 line in 44 games, Robbins offered the following comments, “It has been an honor to play for Coach Tremblay the last three seasons. I’ve been able to develop in so many ways and take my game to an entirely new level where I now can contribute to the success of such a storied program at Maine. I look forward to continuing to work hard on my game and cannot wait to step onto the ice at Alfond and play for Coach Red Gendron. In addition, both assistant coaches Jay Leach and Ben Guite made me feel welcome and excited about being a Black Bears. I also want to express my thanks to my family for all of their support through the years, without them none of this would have been possible. Lastly, I want to say thanks to the Islanders Hockey Club for all they have done for me. I am proud to be a member of Coach Tremblay’s IHC hockey family and will miss playing for them.”
