Nationally ranked team receiving high-end talent and character

North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club of the USPHL is proud to announce the commitments of two players to the #9 ranked UMass-Boston Beacons.  Dominic Blad (Suffield, CT) and Tyler Sifferlen (N. Andover, MA) will both begin their collegiate careers this fall not far from the IHC home.  Both have played an integral part of the Islanders success this season and will most certainly have outstanding careers for Head Coach Peter Belisle and the Beacons.

GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay offered, “I couldn’t be happier for both Dom and Tyler.  They have tremendous character and will be impact players for Coach Belisle.  Academically U-Mass is a perfect fit for each of them with the major they each want to pursue.”

“I am really looking forward to playing college hockey for UMass Boston,” stated Dominic Blad.  “It is a very good school academically offering the exact courses that I want to take, and they have a great hockey program. Coach Belisle is a great guy and has really turned the program around. This year they have been as high as 6th ranked nationally, so it is pretty cool knowing one day I will hopefully be competing for a nationally championship.”

Tyler Sifferlen added, “I’m excited to be playing college hockey at UMass Boston.  The program there is awesome and it is close to home where my family can come and watch me play.  The staff is great and I look forward to helping them stay a nationally ranked team and contend for a title.  They also have a great criminal justice program, which is very important to me.  Playing for the Islanders has been a great experience.  The coaches and my teammates have all pushed me to be a better player each and every day.  The environment is second to none.  Lastly, I want to thank my family and friends for all of the support given to me over the years.”

Currently the Islanders are atop the USPHL with a 32-7 record.  UMass Boston sits atop the NEHC with a 13-2-1 record and are 17-4-2 overall.
