North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club is pleased to announce goaltender Connor Minch will head to Buffalo State University in the fall of 17.  The 6’5, 225 lb goalie has had a great season thus far for the Islanders and after visiting the school after the Thanksgiving break knew it was where he wanted to play college hockey.

“I'm extremely honored and excited to have the chance to attend and play hockey at SUNY Buffalo State,” stated Connor Minch.  “I'm thankful for all the coaches and friends I've made who have helped me through my junior career, and I wouldn't be where I am without my family for sticking by my side and supporting me the entire way. I'd also like to thank the USPHL and especially the Islanders Hockey Club for giving me the chance to get where I am today.  The practice environment created each day is second to none for a goaltender with the IHC.  I'm looking forward to taking the next step after this season to join an up and coming program and continue to progress as a player and a person."

Currently Minch is boasting a 10-2-0 record, a 2.37 GAA, and a .915 save %.  GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay offered the following statement, “Connor has gradually improved throughout the season.  He possesses great size and has learned how to effectively use that size to his advantage.  Each month I notice him evolving into what is one of the harder goalies to beat in the USPHL.  He certainly proved that at one point when he shutout the Jersey Hitmen in their own building, a feat I cannot remember happening ever.  He still has room for growth and I am excited he will be playing for a former goaltender of mine in Nick Therrien.  Nick was a great college goaltender who is also a great teacher of the position.  It is a perfect fit for Connor.”

Minch added, “I am so happy to be with the Islanders this season after facing them in the past.  I now know why they are so successful and I am thrilled to be a part of it and look forward to bringing the Dineen Cup to North Andover.”
