ST-JEAN STOPS 22 OF 22 FOR 2ND SHUTOUT OF SEASON
Foxboro, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club made their way down 128 for a rare midweek game against the South Shore Kings and went back home with a convincing 4-0 road win. Both teams would feel each other out and play a very tough game in the neutral zone only allowing for some perimeter shots in the first period. Late in the first and with the Kings killing off a penalty, it would be Brent Hill firing a one-timer from Matt Dillon and Jeremie Lavallee for a PP strike with just 22 seconds left in the first period.
The second period would see the power of the IHC emerge outshooting the Kings 15-6 and scoring 2 more goals. JJ Layton would hold the blue line and step towards the goal before wristing one past Aiden Murphy. Team scoring leader Sam Nestor would one-time a feed from the work of Lavallee and Hayden Taylor for a commanding 3-0 lead. Just 1:58 into the third period, George Sennott would pop one into a wide-open net off a rebound from Lucas Michaud. The Islanders would keep the Kings at bay outshooting them 13-7 and end up with a 37-22 advantage.
Louis Felix St-Jean would earn his second shutout of the year and prove again to be a legitimate Division one candidate stopping all 22 shots faced. Murphy would finish the night with 34 saves.
The Islanders host a key matchup with the Jersey Hitmen this weekend. Game times are set for 7:30pm on Saturday and 11:30am Sunday at Lawler Arena on the campus of Merrimack College.
