Local Young Star Will Winship to be an Islander!

North Andover, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club is pleased to announce Will Winship, a 10/25/2000 star out of Central Catholic, has signed a tender for the 2018-19 season.  The 6’4/200 right shot forward out of Andover, MA is a great way to start the recruiting season for the IHC.  Will was the leading goal scorer as a sophomore at Central Catholic High School last season and lead his team to their first Super 8 finals in school history. He was also awarded the MVC All Conference player last season.  Only a junior in high school, the future star will again lead his high school team this season and continue his development under Kim Brandvold, skills coach for the Boston Bruins.

“This was a no brainer for our us, Will is a big strong power forward that moves well and has the ability to not only finish but make high end plays,” stated GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay.  “He has another year at Central Catholic which will allow him to get even bigger, faster, and stronger before taking his game to the next level with us.  He has practiced with us a couple of times and he has looked very good.  There is no doubt in my mind he will be a Division One player and I would not be surprised if he makes a commitment before suiting up for us next year.”

After signing with the Islanders Will offered, “It is truly a great honor for me to be the first player to sign with the Islanders Hockey Club NCDC team for the 2018-19 season.  I look forward to playing for Coach Tremblay and developing under his guidance to contribute to future wins and successful seasons to come. I am very thankful to be part of such a great organization with a tradition of excellence and a commitment to developing players for the next level.  After skating with the team and seeing how they operate I knew this was exactly where I wanted to be to grow as a player and as a person.  Thanks to Coach Tremblay and the Islanders organization for this wonderful opportunity.”
