Topple Rockets 8-1 and Hitmen 4-2

Marlboro, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club started 2018 right where they left off earning two wins improving their league leading record to an impressive 27-2.  In the opening game the defense worked both sides of the ice as Jack Moran, Liam Darcy, and Matt Dillon three of the first four goals for the Isles.  Each would be a multiple point performer as Moran went 1-2-3, Darcy 1-1-2, and Dillon 1-3-4.  Jonathan Young broke out with a two-goal performance and Hunter McCoy, Brent Hill and Justin Person each popped home single markers.  Sam Nestor would put up three helpers and Jeremie Lavallee and Evan Daddario would add two.  Louis Felix St-Jean would earn the win with 15 saves.

In game two vs the Hitmen, the Isles would strike first when Sam Nestor beat Connor Murphy in tight on a great net front move to make it 1-0 after the first period.  Early in the second Hayden Taylor would fly into the zone in his typical F1 fashion and destroy the Hitmen defender allowing the puck to slip through to Jonathan Young.  Young would pick the puck up on his forehand, slide it though his legs to avoid a defender and slip to the front and reach around Murphy for one of the highlight goals of the season.  The Hitmen would strike four minutes later when Ryan Finnegan popped home a nice 3x1 rush on the power play.  The one goal lead would not hold for long when Young scored his second of the game just twenty-five seconds later when he backhanded a rebound off a George Sennott shot.  Justin Marler would also assist on the play.  In the third Tyler Coffey would fire a one timer on a 5x3 PP to once again pull to within one, but again the Isles would not let it last long when Brent Hill snapped one glove side off a nice play from Nick Parody and Lucas Michaud less than two minutes later.  The score would end 4-2 with Justin Ferguson stopping 23 shots to preserve the 27th win of the season for the IHC.
