North Andover, MA – Islanders Hockey Club forward Justin Pearson has committed to Yale University for the fall of 2018.  Pearson, in his second season with the IHC, is currently the third leading scorer on the team with a 16-19-35 line in 32 games played.  The 6’1/187 center has been stellar this season and has guided his team to an impressive 30-2 record.  He visited Yale last week and wasted no time in accepting their offer.

“I am honored to become a part of the storied hockey program at Yale as well as earning an education at such a prestigious institution,” stated Justin Pearson.  “I have always dreamed of going to an Ivy League School and am extremely excited that it is now a reality. After visiting campus and talking with the coaches, I know that Yale is the perfect fit for me to succeed on the ice and in the classroom.  The Islanders Hockey Club has been instrumental in my development the past three years as a hockey player and as a person.  I am grateful to Coach Tremblay who has always believed in me; and the whole coaching staff who helped me with the process. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and all my coaches along the way who have helped me to achieve my goal.”

“I could not be happier for Justin and his entire family,” stated GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay.  “Since day one Justin has been tireless in his pursuit to become a Division One player and he deserves this amazing opportunity.  He is the type of player that makes your team better and you can feel his presence in the lineup.  Justin is an honest, 200 foot player who excels in all three zones and understands what it means to be a ‘real’ hockey player.  He comes from a great family who raised him well and it shows in his leadership ability within our team.  Justin plays a big, hard, loud game and is humble all at the same time.  He is a rare and special player who I have loved coaching and will surely miss in seasons to come.”

Pearson will arrive at Yale as the 7th player that Coach Tremblay has guided to the prestigious Ivy League school.  Justin is a 2018 NCDC All Star and will be defending both the Founders and Dineen Cups in the upcoming months.
